FZR1000 Conversion into your 86/87 Fazer/FZX. You will need the engine (87 or 88 FZR1000) and exhaust and preferably the intake and carbs, as well as the CDI box. Exhaust will require a simple bracket to hold the weight up.
Engine:
This is a direct swap almost. You need to modify the collant tubes coming out of the heads but cutting the collector tubes so you have two connection points instead of one (they should look similar to your Fazer when cut). Swap over the waterpump (at least the outer housing), and Shift Shaft. The move on to the electrical.
Electrical:
The electrics schems are from the FZX750, model 4AM one pick-up (black and white schem) and from the FZX700 two pick-ups (color schem)
This is how you should wire your FZR1000 CDI to the 750 or 700 wiring:
Leave the two middle spaces blank on the big connector. My wiring had one blue/yellow wire going to the top middle space and I had to remove it as it was killing the ignition, I had no spark with it fitted to the 1000 CDI. I just wired as it shows and it runs beautifully.
The left connector is the wiring from the left pick-up (left side of crankcase).
On the big conector, red is +12V, black is ground, orange is for coil #1 and #4, grey is for coil #2 and #3.
